I was in London last week when the febrile madness of Where Is Kate? was blowing up social media, and The Curious Mystery of the Doctored Mother’s Day Photograph consumed every news outlet and dinner table conversation. When was the last time any tabloid considered the palace a trusted source of news? As editor of Vanity Fair in 1985 I wrote a piece revealing that Prince Charles and Princess Diana were having awful marital fights. When social media shrieked that there would be a very somber press announcement on Friday, royal-watchers assumed it would be from King Charles, who is battling an unspecified cancer.

Recovering from major abdominal surgery — as Kate has been since January — is ghastly, and having to do it so you can be healthy enough for chemotherapy is a humbling one-two punch from the universe. We know that rates of colon cancer diagnoses in particular are going up alarmingly in younger populations. I was 45 when I received my diagnosis of stage 3 colon cancer, and, like Kate, underwent major abdominal surgery followed by chemo. As a survivor of a gastrointestinal cancer, whose sufferers face much greater stigma than other types of cancer, I feel this most acutely. Depending on the nature of her abdominal surgery, Kate might have been assigned a short-term or a permanent colostomy bag.

CNN —The public absence of Catherine, Princess of Wales, has grown from a niche royal watcher concern to an international punchline in a matter of weeks. Droves of amateur detectives have crafted timelines and deep dives into the princess’ movements over the last few months, combining real concern with outlandish conspiracy. The uproar, the theories, the analyses, the jokes and, yes, the serious concern — they all show the multitude of ways people interact with and view the royal family. “Not [the royal family] specifically, just anyone in that kind of position.”Catherine, Princess Of Wales is seen during the opening of Evelina London's new children's day surgery unit on December 5, 2023 in London, England. Kensington Palace released the image of Middleton and her children — Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis — on Sunday, writing that the photo was taken by Price William. Kensington Palace previously announced that Middleton underwent a planned abdominal surgery in January. AdvertisementOne photo editor who dissected the image told Business Insider he was surprised the photo was released in the first place. "It's astonishing that Kensington Palace released it, and even more bewildering that the wires distributed it," said Patrick Witty. Kensington Palace did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Business Insider.

Many were focused on the cuff of Princess Charlotte's pink cardigan, which appears to disappear in the photo. AdvertisementA spokesperson for the AP pointed Business Insider to a story from the outlet, in which reporters explain why they believe the photo to be manipulated. "The photo shows an inconsistency in the alignment of Princess Charlotte's left hand," per the AP. The website says it has no connection to Trump's campaign, though Trump campaign officials promoted the appearance in online posts. Trump's appearance was met with clashing boos from his detractors and chants of “USA!” from supporters who arrived at the sneaker event decked out in Trump gear. The attendees skewed younger and more diverse than Trump's usual rally crowds and some black attendees were seen leaving as Trump spoke. Trump's campaign is hoping he will be able to win over more young and minority voters, particularly young Black men, in a likely rematch against President Joe Biden in November. The new sneaker website says it is run by CIC Ventures LLC, a company that Trump reported owning in his 2023 financial disclosure.

A simple, sustainable routine can be an effective way to build muscle and burn fat with less time and effort, said Adam Enaz, a personal trainer and dietitian specializing in fitness transformations. Too much cardio can be a waste of time if you want to build muscle. A concept called progressive overload is key to getting great results lifting weights, Enaz said. Eat enough food, especially proteinIf you're working hard in the gym but not seeing results, you might not be eating enough to build muscle. Eating more won't necessarily build muscle tissue any quicker, and can lead to fat gain instead.

Why Calvin Klein ads still get people talking

The strategy was classic Calvin Klein, a brand which has been synonymous with sexy, conversation-starting campaigns since the 1970s. From Calvin KleinBut the White ads were just the start of the headlines for Calvin Klein. Adorning a New York City phonebooth, Mark Wahlberg is seen in a 1992 Calvin Klein campaign. Meanwhile, no one besides the ASA seems to be admonishing Calvin Klein over the FKA Twigs ads. For Calvin Klein, both sets of ads are an example of that old adage — there’s no such thing as bad publicity.

Mr. Chou pulled off the freeway and found a cinema, which happened to be showing “Paddington 2.” The woman at the concessions stand told him that he would love it.
